This compilation is the result of the invitation addressed to several musicians from Braga, related to electronic or electroacoustic music, to compose a short piece of around two minutes, using the sounds available in the “Phonambient Braga” sound archive. This archive gathers several field recordings from Braga, and was developed as part of the project Phonambient, freely available in www.phonambient.com. The second part of the album, entitled “A cookie for a story”, presents a collection of eight stories recorded by Liza Barley, one of the participants in the project, that had the idea of inviting people on the streets to grab a biscuit and tell some of their stories about Braga. Phonambient is a project of documentation and artistic transformation of the contemporary sonic patrimony. It aims to register and maintain in a digital database, the sounds that characterize a certain city or region, including soundscapes, localized sounds, musical excerpts, phonetics and phonology. Based on the previous project “Porto Sonoro” (www.portosonoro.pt), it expands the database to the cities of Braga, Castelo Branco, Fundão, Guarda, Tondela and Abu Dhabi (U.A.E.).
