The theme of “care” had long been considered for this issue of Leonorana. Editing work was already underway when the pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak was announced. It was a coincidence that did not change the initial structure of the magazine, even though it influenced the themes developed in some of the essays. It did, however, change the whole process. Among the many possibilities that exist to understand and practice care, one of them is to think, reflect and critically comprehend, from a general perspective, the information that profusely circulates. The denial of the current situation can be understood not from a serious critique of the available information, but through lazy and biased criticism. The resistance to accompany change (yes, the world has been turned upside down, but it is best to accept it) only contributes to dismiss what we mean by care and even the fact that we are facing new types of care for which we must prepare. In this sense, although seeking to provide multiple perspectives on care, we recognize this moment as a moment of transition. The various essays that comprise this issue are dedicated to reflections on care based on multiple functions and purposes and focusing on people, on works of art and museological institutions, on the collective viewing of films, on architectural heritage and gardens, on green spaces, on the air we breathe and the bees (which, if led to extinction, it is said, humans will also become extinct as a species).
