pernas pernas [legs] is an experimental zine part of a larger project that started in 2018 and that aims to highlight my personal and somewhat troubled connection with dance. Having a classical ballet teacher as a mother meant that discipline, good posture and feminine manners were expected of me. The project is a rescue of an archive of images, bodies and dances, which intertwines the legs of mother and daughter, and wants to play with the images in the same way that it plays with the body. Even a body whose movement is shaped by these beautiful and constricted forms can search for new shapes and find its way into release.
